There are times in life when everything hurts and most things seem difficult. There can be times when we can get jammed up or wrapped in a knot that we are not sure how to get out of or even how we got into. Marital issues, communication, depression, finances, anger, or simply put, sin can effect our life and we begin to recognize we need help but are not sure where to go.

Lit Torch Counseling focuses on solving problems from a biblical curative, not coping, approach. We use a biblical soul care model of counseling with the Bible as the primary tool. The Scriptures provide “everything we need for life and godliness” (2 Peter 1:3). It is important to understand this basic first step and to embrace the essential elements for each session which combines truth and grace through a Christ centered approach (John 1:14).

You will be comforted to know and to learn that there is no hopeless person or hopeless situation with God as our source of lasting help and healing (Psalm 121:1-2).

But help from where? And to whom shall we go?

Real answers are provided through biblical hope, help and solutions for all types of problems ranging from: manic depression, fibromyalgia, intensive marital conflict, financial loss, adultery, deep depression, bulimia, addictions (porn, alcohol, gambling, food, etc), anger.

Romans 15:4 says, “For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.”

Using the Scriptures as our guide, we start with active listening to understand where you are. The first question God asks in the Bible is, “Where are you?” Knowing where you are, where you have been and where the Lord wants you is a very important starting point. Every person is unique and every story different.

Through a one hour personal assessment, we can determine which counseling plan would be best based on the degree and severity of the issues. Different levels of counseling require different levels of care. Biblical counseling seeks solutions that move toward curing, not coping, with problems or ailments which results in a short, but intense, season of counseling. It is not meant to be continual but based on the need of the moment to give grace to those who hear (Ephesians 4:29).

Four levels of counseling are offered and available after the assessment and will be explained thoroughly during our time together.

  • Wisdom
  • Directive
  • Corrective
  • Intensive

Different programs are offered to handle any and all levels of counseling and coaching:

  • One hour assessment begins the process. Questions can be asked and questions will be answered about the biblical counseling process and next steps for gaining perspective from the Scripture will be shared.
  • Hourly sessions. two hours sessions preferred. More can be accomplished in multiple two hour blocks than months of hourly counseling. Corrective and somewhat intensive issues can be handled through a series of extended hourly sessions. This is a also an optimal time for discussing and processing relationship issues and personal conflict on professional, personal or even spiritual levels.
  • Monthly package. Four two hours sessions or two four hour sessions booked with a discounted rate. This is our most popular and optimal plan for most counselees.
  • 1 Day intensive session This is a one-day intensive counseling session lasting from 9am – 5pm. A one day or multiple day intensive will focus on uniquely assessing where you are, an assimilation of where you have been and will then move into alignment and application for where you need to be. This is a curative approach, not a coping methodology, and a clear path from the Scriptures will be presented as the Word becomes a lamp unto your feet guiding the way (Ps 119:105). For those who are working through loss, difficult marriage trials and / or perplexing personal problems from which the solutions of this world have not been able to solve or remedy, this format is for you.
